The chances of winning with Lotto Plus 5

Lotto Plus 5 was introduced by The National Lottery in February 2011 as a game designed to fill the gaps between the Wednesday and Saturday Lotto draws.

To enter, players have to buy a ticket for either the Wednesday or Saturday Lotto draw and pay an additional £1. The extra £1 enters the same ticket numbers into an additional 5 extra draws. These draws that take place on the days of the week that the Lotto draw doesn’t take place have fixed prizes, with the jackpot prize being £250,000.

This new game produces approximately 500,000 additional Lotto winners each week

Here is a table showing the winning combinations, there prizes and their odds against winning.

Winning Combinations:
Winning Odds:
Jackpot – Match 6 numbers
13,983,815 to 1
Match 5 numbers Plus Bonus Ball
2,330,635 to 1
Match 5 numbers
55,490 to 1
Match 4 numbers
1,031.4 to 1
Match 3 numbers
55.656 to 1

The odds against winning any prize in a particular draw remain the same as with the Lotto draw, 52.65514 to 1. But as you get 5 draws for each ticket, the overall odds of winning a prize on in one of the 5 draws goes down to 10.13855 to 1.

As with any lottery, these odds can be drastically reduced by having more entries. Great advice I hear you say, but what if I can’t afford more entries. Well that’s where we can help. Sign up to FreeNationalLotteryTickets and you will be able to get free tickets into all the Lotto and EuroMillions draws totally free. There’s no catch, read our FAQS to see how it works.
